Morgantown Unity Manor is a 122-unit Section 202 high-rise complex for the elderly and disabled, which was built in 1981 at a cost of 4.5 million dollars. HUD provides rent subsidy for eligible residents. Several maintenance projects were undertaken this year, such as new carpet in ten apartments, cabinet refacing in ten apartments, new carpet in the hallways of the ninth floor and hallway/solarium of the third and tenth floors.
The 14 passenger van, which is driven by a resident volunteer, provides transportation twice a week to the grocery store, once per month to area malls, and as-needed for social outings, funeral homes, voting polls, FoodShare pick-up, etc. The local Foodland delivers grocery orders on a weekly basis. The Service Coordinator arranges several wellness programs for residents. One meal is provided per day through the Nutrition Program operated by The Senior Monongalians Senior Center for $1.25. Resident volunteers take orders, distribute meals, and collect money.
