South Parkersburg Unity Plaza was built in 1983 in Parkersburg at a cost of 2.6 million dollars. This 60-unit Section 202 complex contains a large multi-purpose room with a kitchen and spacious outdoor recreational facilities. South Parkersburg Unity Plaza has become one of the most desirable residential facilities for senior citizens in the Parkersburg area. The housing project has access to a van that is used to transport residents to the grocery store on a weekly basis. A Neighborhood Networks Center is available to residents providing access to computers and other activities.
The complex is a Senior Nutrition Site. The Senior Citizens bring a nutritious lunch to the building, five days a week, which is served in the Multi-Purpose Room by volunteers.
The Tenant's Association is quite active with twice weekly bingo games, fundraisers, Bible study's, birthday dinners, etc..
In July 2008 , the site received a HUD evaluation score of 97.
