Employment Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant

Picture
HRDF is one of the project operators for the Employment Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant in Regions 3, 4, and 6. HRDF is hiring individuals interested in becoming peer recovery coaches at various placements throughout these regions.

Eligible applicants are those that meet TEGL 4-18:
  1. Individuals who are temporarily or permanently laid off because of the opioid crisis;
  2. Long-termed unemployed workers, as defined by the state; and
  3. Self-employed individuals who become unemployed or underemployed as a result of the opioid crisis.

Participants receive Naloxone, CPR/First Aid, and peer recovery training.

What do you do as a Peer Recovery Coach?
Provide humanitarian aid and peer recovery support services. Here are a few examples:
  1. Assist quick response teams and law enforcement on overdose calls and provide support for the individuals who have overdosed. With peer-to-peer support there is hope in getting the addict into a Treatment/Recovery program;
  2. Assist recoverees who are being processed through Drug Courts and at the same time can refer to Career Advocates for early intervention.
  3. Assist at emergency public intoxication facilities by transporting and giving peer support.
  4. Develop initiatives with the community to reach out to the homeless with referrals for shelters and food.
  5. Partner with faith-based organizations to provide Peer-to-Peer support activities to recoverees that encourages admission to recovery centers in the targeted communities.
  6. Assist at the Recovery Centers by providing Peer Support to the housed recoveries in recovery.
  7. Assist the Career Advocates at the American Job Centers.
  8. Place Peer Coaches at medical facilities as appropriate to redirect users to treatment facilities and lessen the number of recoverees in the emergency rooms.
